QS, the private-label from German clothing retailer S.Oliver aimed at the young fashion shopper, has opened a 1,570 sq ft (145 sq m) standalone store in Graz, in Austria and a larger 2,800 sq ft (260 sq m) branch in the Centr0 shopping centre in Oberhausen, in Germany.

With features such as metal container-style fitting rooms, single pendant bulb lighting and a blacked-out ceiling void, the interior, designed by Berlin-based consultancy Plajer & Franz Studio, has an industrial ambiance.

There is also a mid-floor linear presentation of the stock, where the bulk of the merchandise is on low tables, allowing views from the narrow shop front to the rear of the store.

White, freestanding brand walls and a perimeter composed, in part once more, of the metal containers, complete the picture.

S.Oliver is looking at towns and cities with a population of 20,000 or more to roll the format out. Both stores opened in March.
