Marks & Spencer has extended the trial of its self-service checkout indefinitely.
The prototype was launched by M&S in September for an initial 12-week period in stores at Gateshead, Oxford and Uxbridge.
A spokeswoman for the retailer said: 'The trial was really to test customer perceptions and the tills have gone down well with a few shoppers.'
However, she said that there were still no plans to roll it out to more stores. She added: 'We are happy with the tills in the three stores, and we will be leaving them in the stores ongoing.'
