Majestic Wine has selected a Chameleon EPoS solution from Itim, as part of its strategy to upgrade to Chip and PIN, and to support the growth of the business.
The retailer is expanding by about eight to 10 outlets a year, and its current EPoS system is unable to cope. The Chameleon solution will be rolled out across the chain's 116-store estate.
The system will enable Majestic to provide value-added services, such as quotation and reserve stock functions, at the point of sale.
It will also be linked to Majestic's voucher tracking scheme and postcoding service to help speed up customer queries.
Majestic Wine IT director Jim Bendon said: 'Our success to date has been built on our absolute dedication to customer service. It was therefore critical to find a reliable and flexible EPoS solution that would give us enhanced functionality across all stores in the UK. We need to address Chip and PIN functionality at the same time, to prevent us incurring additional costs at a later stage.'
The retailer's Chip and PIN transaction software will be provided by Retail Logic.
