Retail Property - Wrexham gets Wilson Bowden for Eagles site

Wrexham County Borough Council has selected Wilson Bowden to develop the£60 million Eagles Meadow project at Wrexham town centre.

The site, formerly occupied by an Asda supermarket, is being used as a car park.

The design by Bernard Engle Architects is for 225,000 sq ft (20,900 sq m) of retail and leisure space, anchored by an 85,000 sq ft (7,895 sq m) department store and bowling alley, with additional retail and catering space.

The development will also include 1,000 parking spaces and 50 apartments.

Wrexham's inner ring road will have to be re-routed to clear the site.

Wilson Bowden managing director Nick Richardson said: 'We believe we can help Wrexham build on recent successes, and further improve the town as a recreational and retail destination.'
