Made.com has announced that it is expanding its UK capacity in response to high customer demand for products during the pandemic.

The retailer plans to double its distribution centre space at London Logistics Park in Essex. Made.com currently occupies 225,000 sq ft for its distribution operation, but plans to expand to over 570,000 sq ft.

The new 350,000 sq ft logistics centre will be delivered in two phases, with the first phase completed in summer 2021 and the second in April 2022.

Nicola Thompson, chief operating officer at Made.com, said: “We are thrilled to expand our warehousing operations at London Gateway as we respond to continued growth in customer demand for exclusive designs.

“Combined with our innovative just in time supply chain model, this expansion of our warehousing facility in Tilbury is an exciting step towards achieving our long-term strategy to grow the business sustainably, as we continue to invest in operational efficiency and become the design destination for digital natives.”
