Property news - Thanet park gets go-ahead

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister has approved Hammerson's planning application for an 80,000 sq ft (7,430 sq m) retail park at Thanet, Kent. The site is adjacent to Hammerson's East Kent and Westwood retail parks. It is also opposite the proposed Westwood Cross Shopping Centre, which is due for completion in 2005. The park will be anchored by a 52,000 sq ft (4,830 sq m) Homebase store, with two smaller units. Construction will commence at the end of this year.
