Property News - Telford Centre's New Row anchored by Zara store

Zara has signed up for its latest UK store, anchoring the£28 million New Row extension at Universities' Superannuation Scheme's Telford Shopping Centre.

The Spanish fashion retailer is one of four retailers to sign up for the scheme, alongside Bank Fashions, Warner Bros and Pilot. They will join Beatties' 7,430 sq m department store, anchoring the extension which is on target to open on September 5.

Zara is to take a 1,490 sq m unit at the New Row extension, created by combining Units 235 & 237 on ground and first levels, with Unit 239 at first floor level to create a two- level store.

The Fire & Ice Group is to trade as Bank in a 340 sq m unit, Warner Brothers will occupy 310 sq m and Pilot has signed up for a 300 sq m ground floor only unit.

The New Row Extension brings Telford Shopping Centre's retail offer to almost 100,000 sq m. As well as new lettings, existing tenants such as Gap and Next are improving their offers with Next expanding to 1,400 sq m.

USS deputy fund surveyor Guy Williams said: 'The extension, inclusion of Beatties and introduction of retailers like Zara establishes Telford as one of the major regional shopping centres in the UK and strengthens our fashion offer.'

DTZ Debenham Tie Leung and Blair Kirkman acted for USS. Harper Dennis Hobbs represented Zara, Wright Silverwood advised Fire & Ice. Stiles Harold Williams represented Warner Bros and Churston Heard, Pilot.
