Furniture retailer ScS has appointed Chris Muir as its new chief financial officer following the resignation of Ron Turnbull last year.

Muir will also join the executive board when he takes on the position from Turnbull in April.

Muir joins the furniture retailer, which floated last year, from commercial vehicle hire specialist Northgate, where he started as a group accountant in 2003 and held several senior roles including UK finance director and acting group chief executive.

ScS chairman Alan Smith said: “I am delighted to welcome Chris to ScS.

“Chris brings substantial experience to the board and will be an extremely valuable addition as we look to further grow and develop our business.”

Turnbull, whose resignation from ScS was revealed last year, will leave the company and step down from the board after ensuring a “smooth handover” to Muir, the retailer said.

In ScS’s most recent trading update, like-for-likes for the 16 weeks to November 14 were up 7.9% across its stores and House of Fraser concessions.
