Sainsbury’s online director and head of clothing will helm commercial strategy across Sainsbury’s and Argos following the merger.

His remit will involve overseeing commercial across Argos’s stores and online offer and will mirror that of James Brown, former head of clothing at Sainsbury’s who has been made commercial director for the grocer’s non-food offer.

Feather and Brown’s new appointments follow a raft of management changes after Sainsbury’s’ £1.4bn acquisition of Argos owner Home Retail Group earlier this month, including Rogers’ promotion from chief financial officer at Sainsbury’s and Argos’ digital director Bertrand Bodson’s expanded remit to include marketing and customer experience responsibilities.

Feather worked at retailers including Asda and John Lewis and co-founded furniture retailer Feather & Black prior to joining Sainsbury’s as general merchandise business unit director in 2011, before becoming online director in 2014.

Brown joined Sainsbury’s as head of clothing and general merchandise in 2011 from Littlewoods, having previously worked for Matalan and Marks & Spencer.
