Furniture chain Multiyork chairman and chief executive Indira Thambiah has stood down.

Former Argos multichannel boss Thambiah and Multiyork’s owners, Wade Furniture Group, are said to have “differing views on the strategic direction the business should take going forward”.

Multiyork chief financial officer Adrian Iles will take on the role of acting chief executive until a successor is named.

Thambiah has spent just over a year at the furniture retailer. Previously, she spent six years at Home Retail Group, prior to which she was with Asda.

The retailer has been rolling out a series of store refurbishments at its key locations including Tottenham Court Road, London and Manchester.
