Pets at Home expanded its online support teams during the pandemic

The petcare retailer has entered a consultation period with several colleagues following proposals to reduce the size of its support team.

The changes will impact fewer than 100 roles and the employees concerned have been alerted that their roles are in consultation.

It is understood that Pets at Home will move some colleagues into different roles or departments, but others are likely to be made redundant as a result of the changes.

A Pets at Home spokesperson said: “Over the past few years, our business has grown and we have made significant strategic investments in our infrastructure and technology to support that expansion.

“During this time, our support office has increased substantially, and we recently entered a period of consultation with a small number of colleagues on proposals to reshape for the future and align behind our growth strategy.

“We will ensure that any further updates are communicated with colleagues first.”
