Tony Hoggett: ‘I’m grateful to my colleagues for their support, guidance, and friendship’

It was announced earlier today that Hoggett would leave Amazon. He first joined in 2022 to run the retailer’s physical stores and is now pursuing the “next step” of his career.

He will now join restaurant chain Wonder as its chief operating officer, the company told Fortune.

New York-based Wonder is run by former president and chief executive of Walmart’s ecommerce arm in the US, Marc Lore. It operates 27 fast-casual restaurants in the northeast of the US.

The chain is aiming to open a total of 100 locations by January 2026 and is piloting restaurants inside four Walmart supercentre stores. It has raised $1.5bn (ÂŁ1.15bn) since it was founded.

Lore told the publication that despite hiring Hoggett, Wonder is not looking to expand further into the grocery space.

In Hoggetts’ new role as chief operating officer, he will run Wonder’s real estate and store operations teams while overseeing the technology in the backend.

In a LinkedIn post, Hoggett said: “My time at Amazon has been incredible, and I’m grateful to my colleagues for their support, guidance, and friendship.

“I’m optimistic about the work Amazon is doing to improve the grocery shopping experience for customers and have no doubt the teams will keep the momentum going in my absence. I’ll be cheering you all on.”
