Shoppers are expected to spend £350m online on Monday on would could be the busiest shopping day of the year for etailers.  

93% of shoppers are planning to buy online this Christmas according to the IMRG, with nearly three quarters of consumers doing half or more of their total gift purchasing online.

With an expected £5bn total spend through December, a 14% year-on-year increase, David Smith, Director of Operations at IMRG said, “Online retail has consistently delivered double-digit growth throughout 2009 as consumers switch to the convenience and price savings available on the internet.”

Amazon UK Managing Director, Brian McBride stated, “In 2009, more people than ever will be ordering Christmas presents via the internet.

“Low prices and vast choice coupled with the ability to order from the home or office makes internet shopping a cost effective and highly convenient way to purchase Christmas gifts.”
