Rakuten, Japan’s largest e-tail site, is chasing overseas sales as revenue from international shoppers grows at 19.7 per cent a month.

Rakuten president Hiroshi Mikitani expects international sales to hit $1m (£621,300) a day by the end of the year. The e-tailer was founded in 1997 and has 47 million members registered on its Marketplace platform, where they can buy and sell.

Last year the e-tail giant, which sells a raft of products including fashion, food and entertainment, achieved sales of $2.6bn (£1.6bn).
