Marks & Spencer is expected to reveal online expansion plans on Tuesday, when it is holding a strategy day for investors.

M&S, which this week extended overseas delivery of online orders to 73 countries, has a sales target for M&S Direct of £500m by 2011.

UBS analyst Andy Hughes said: “M&S is likely to announce that it will develop a more comprehensive site allowing better product browsing, extended click and collect and potentially online-only ranges.

“With high footfall and a large branch network, click and collect should be an easy win. However, we are unsure of the costs involved.”

Investors are also likely to track the performance on the day of potential successors to Sir Stuart Rose.
