Luxury department store Harrods has signed former La Redoute Web guru Jean-Marie Boucher to spearhead its online expansion.

Boucher joined Harrods in June as director of direct mail and e-commerce, replacing Mathias Bork, who left in March.

Boucher has been charged with boosting the number of products available online.

Harrods had also held talks with Eva Pascoe, founder of Arcadia-owned online fashion store Zoom, about heading the venture. Pascoe has now left Arcadia.

A number of high-profile departures have plagued Harrods of late, including that of buying and merchandising director Jonathan Akeroyd. Sources suggest another Harrods director is close to resigning to go to TK Maxx.
