Amazon will open a new distribution hub in Bolton next year that will create 1,200 new full-time permanent jobs.

The online behemoth’s latest UK fulfilment centre will be its third in the region and will take the number of full-time roles Amazon has created in the North West to over 3,500.

The retailer has kicked off a recruitment drive for the jobs in its latest warehouse across a variety of roles including operations managers, IT specialists and engineers.

The warehouse, which will operate in addition to 16 others across the UK, will be equipped with robotics technology that will transport goods around the fulfilment centre.

Amazon, which opened a new London headquarters in July, has created its new warehouse to expand its product selection and supercharge the growth of businesses selling through its Marketplace platform.

Amazon’s director of UK customer fulfilment Stefano Perego said: “Our ability to expand in the North West of England is the result of two things: incredible customers and an outstanding workforce.

“We are thrilled to begin recruitment for 1,200 new permanent roles in Bolton with competitive wages and comprehensive benefits starting on day one.”
