Ireland is to get its first dedicated fashion retail park, close to the existing Blanchardstown shopping centre, west Dublin.

Cosgrave Property Group plans a substantial remodelling of the existing Westend retail park in the area.

The owners have applied lessons learned from tours of similar schemes in the UK and they claim Westend will break new ground for Ireland.

Units will range from 5,400 sq ft (500 sq m) to more than 108,000 sq ft (10,035 sq m), with mezzanine units of more than 3,230 sq ft (300 sq m).

Next has signed up as anchor tenant for Westend, taking 40,000 sq ft (3,715 sq m) of space on ground- and first-floor levels, with an option to take a further 20,000 sq ft (1,860 sq m) at mezzanine level. The retailer will be moving from its unit at Blanchardstown shopping centre to what will be its largest in Ireland.

A number of international brands are said to be ready to sign up for Westend. Bernadine Hogan, senior negotiator with agent Hamilton Osborne King in Dublin, said Westend will be a distinctive and separate entity from other destinations and will feature both fashion and furnishings.

- Clarendon Properties has been granted planning permission to create 32,290 sq ft (3,000 sq m) of retail at 6 to 10 Suffolk Street and 34/35 College Green, just off Dublin's prime Grafton Street. The development is one of the largest retail opportunities to come to the market in the heart of Dublin in recent years.

Hamilton Osborne King and Harper Dennis Hobbs are the letting agents.
