London Sock Company crowdfunding breaks Seedrs record
Start-up retailer London Sock Company has beaten crowdfunding investment provider Seedrs’ record for exceeding its target.
London Sock Company, in which model David Gandy is a shareholder, set a target of £200,000 but drew investment of £830,000 within a few hours of launching the fundraising campaign on Wednesday.
Co-founder Dave Pickard said: “We set a fairly sensible but still challenging and meaningful target initially, as we were nervous about launching a crowd campaign for the first time, particularly in the current climate. The response has been unbelievable. It’s such a huge vote of confidence from our customers and the Seedrs community. We are excited to see how far we can go.”

Angling Direct chief executive Darren Bailey said: “His extensive experience in retail, gained from working with reputable blue-chip companies in the retail and consumer sectors, will be invaluable and will complement the skills we already have in our boardroom. We are pleased to have attracted talent such as Andy and we look forward to working with him in the months and years ahead.”
