BRC urges chancellor to raise national insurance contribution threshold in upcoming Budget
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has written to chancellor John Healey urging him to raise the employer national insurance contributions threshold in the autumn Budget.
Changes to national insurance contributions (NICs) were introduced in the 2024 autumn Budget and came into effect in April 2025, which cost retailers around £1.74bn.
