New Budgens Quickstop store opens its doors

Budgens has launched a new convenience store-type that will eventually replace its Express fascia, of which there are 33.

The first Budgens Quickstop store opened in Brighton last week, with the emphasis on top-up shopping and a strong fresh-to-go range. The new outlet also has a Costa Coffee offer.

Quickstop has been developed as an improvement on Budgens' smaller stores and the retailer plans to tailor each Quickstop to its local catchment area.

Budgens chief executive Martin Hyson said: 'We're confident of positive results. The typical customer is looking for fast food solutions, night and day, and we aim to provide round-the-clock choice, quality and fast, efficient service.'

The blue and yellow colour scheme of Quickstop has already been adopted in a number of Budgens Local franchise stores around the country. The retailer plans to roll out the design to all of its stores less than 280 sq m.
