Grocer Morrisons is considering suing Fifa over England’s failed World Cup bid.

Morrisons chief executive Dalton Philips has written to football’s governing body to demand back the £1m the supermarket chain spent sponsoring England’s bid. Swiss legal experts have reportedly been drafted in to consider legal action.

In a letter to FIFA boss Sepp Blatter, Philips called the bid process “unfair” and demanded that the governing body “do the honourable thing”  by handing over the equivalent sum to charity.

Philips believes that England never have a hope of winning the bid, in light of Fifa’s comment that the World Cup finals “should go to new lands”.
