Jumbo Supermarkten posts sales increase
Dutch grocery retailer Jumbo Supermarkten posted sales of E6.96bn (£5.66bn) for financial 2012. Turnover at Jumbo stores rose 31.7% to E3.23bn (£2.62bn.The rapid increase was mainly generated by its acquisition of competitor C1000, which raised the store count of its Jumbo-bannered shops from 263 to 309.Like-for-like sales growth was 2.7%. ...

Edeka to sell minority stake in Netto
Co-operative grocer Edeka is selling its 25% minority stake in discounter Netto in Germany to majority holder Dansk Supermarked, effective as of December 31.Edeka chief executive Markus Mosa said: “We are realigning our strategic focus on independent retailing and on companies in which we can hold operational responsibility.”
