Legacy retailer spearheads retail response to disaster
Marks & Spencer has pledgedÂŁ250,000 to its appeal to help tsunami victims in Southeast Asia. In addition, the retailer's chairman and executive directors promised to donate more thanÂŁ50,000.

The retailer's gift marked the start of a campaign at stores across the UK on New Year's Eve. Customers and staff are invited to give money by any method of payment at any M&S outlet in the country. The retailer has also sentÂŁ3,000 of clothing to Heathrow and Gatwick airports for returning British tourists who have lost their possessions.
