Littlewoods has taken back a £25 discount from customers it says were not eligible to use the promotion.

A discount code was initially sent to just a few customers, but it ended up being distributed to 3,000 shoppers through web sites and via e-mail.

Customers whose vouchers were deemed invalid by the multichannel retailer have had the money taken out of their bank accounts two months later.

A Littlewoods representative said: “The code was circulated without our authorisation. We have recharged this discount back to their accounts and written to them individually to explain. We are looking at a number of ways to ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
