Littlewoods bags sales boss in recruitment push

Littlewoods has poached Gap's UK operations director David Rostron as retail sales director for its eponymous stores chain.

He is the latest in a string of management recruits and will support chief executive Mark Newton-Jones, who joined from Next Directory in November.

At Gap, Rostron was responsible for store openings and developing the brand's UK presence.

He previously spent 16 years at Marks & Spencer, including managing the store planning and design department and as a divisional human resources controller.

Newton-Jones said: 'I am confident that his wealth of high street retail experience will enable him to make an invaluable contribution as we reposition and strengthen our stores business.'
