Online lingerie retailer BeCheeky.com is close to liquidation.

The etailer ceased trading last month and accountancy firm Bishop Fleming is due to be appointed as liquidator tomorrow.

BeCheeky.com was set up in 2005 by ecommerce expert James Akin-Smith. In 2008 Akin-Smith said sales were just over £1m but the retailer had yet to make a profit.

It had previously sought investment from venture capitalists and shareholders, which included Asos co-founder Quentin Griffiths, to boost its marketing and offer.

BeCheeky.com stocked swimwear and lingerie from brands including Gossard, Caprice, Curvy Kate and Wonderbra.

Sex toy and lingerie specialist LoveHoney.com has acquired the etailer’s domain name and will begin selling its own lingerie products on the site in the next 24 hours. It has not acquired any stock from BeCheeky.com.
