John Lewis has revealed that sales in the week so far have continued to rise as shoppers flock to the department store in the run-up to Christmas.
Sales from Sunday to Wednesday rose 15.2% year-on-year and 10% on the same four days last week.
Nat Wakely, director of selling operations, said: âAfter last weekâs record for John Lewis department stores as a whole as well as another online record, this week also began very strongly as our online business passed the sales milestone of ÂŁ300m for the year to date on Sunday. We followed this up by having our biggest ever day online on Monday with sales an impressive 35% up on last year. This week is also due to be a record breaker online as we continue to focus on delivering a compelling site for our customers.
âIn our shops, we are also having an incredible week. All bar one shop are in the increases, most with double-digit growth, and with Oxford Street up 27%, Trafford up 26, Liverpool, up 21% and Welwyn up 20% - the top performers for the week to date - we are seeing consistent growth across the country for John Lewis.â
