The retailer has secured a 5,500 sq ft (510 sq m) space at 30-32 Neal Street, occupied by Foot Locker at present, and will trade over three floors.
Freddy, which was set up in 1976 by Carlo Freddi, focuses on sports and wellbeing apparel, footwear and fitness accessories. It distributes in most European countries including France, Russia, Spain, and Belgium.
Union Land & Property acted for the retailer. Director Nick Ware said: “Freddy has been searching the UK for the right location since last year and it wants to open flagship stores across the world in the style of the Covent Garden store.”
Freddy signed a sponsorship agreement last year to be the technical sponsor and official supplier of the Italian athletics team, which includes this year’s Olympic Games in Beijing.
Churston Heard acted for landlord Scottish Widows. Churston Heard associate director Mark Smith said: “Stores in the right location in Covent Garden are being snapped up and the area has a great vibe about it now with the likes of Urban Outfitters, American Apparel and now Freddy.”
