Spanish fashion giant Inditex has unveiled its latest store fascia, Uterqüe.

The retailer has opened five branches of the accessories store in Spain – two in Madrid, two in Barcelona and one in the retailer’s home town of A Coruña.

Uterqüe marks the latest debut in Inditex’s ever-expanding retail empire, which also includes Zara, Bershka, Pull and Bear and Massimo Dutti.

Inditex is set to open 30 Uterqüe stores of between 2,150 sq ft and 2,690 sq ft in Spain, Portugal and Greece in the second half. It is also opening stores in other international markets this year.

Uterqüe, which means one and the other in Latin, carries fashion accessories including handbags, footwear and leather goods, costume jewellery and textile and fur garments, all designed in-house.

An Inditex spokesman said the retailer had tried to “create an atmosphere of the highest possible style”. He said the range offers “high fashion and value for money”.

A cashmere-mix pashmina costs 25 (£20) and a quilted bag costs 119 (£95). The store design draws inspiration from old English libraries.

Between February 1 and June 8, Inditex reported sales up 14 per cent to 2.2 billion (£1.75 billion). It had opened 145 stores by the end of the quarter and has 3,890 stores in 70 countries.
