The slowdown in the housing market has led to a decline in trade for DIY and gardening retailers. A Verdict report shows that following a decade of good performance, DIY players are experiencing a slump, with a forecast decline of 1.6 per cent in DIY and gardening spend. ARG-owned Homebase has emerged as the most effective operator, adding 0.2 percentage points to take its market share to 10.4 per cent. Market leader B&Q has experienced a tough year, only managing to maintain its share at 24.1 per cent.
