House of Fraser like-for-likes increased 0.8% in its third quarter to October 26 as adjusted EBITDA edged up £100,000 to £1.7m.

For the year to date, like-for-likes are up 2.5% while adjusted EBITDA rose £100,000 to £9.2m.

Online sales surged 31.1%, behind its cumulative growth for the year of 46.2%. The retailer introduced its click-and-collect only store concept into its Edinburgh department store over the period and piloted a “queue-busting” check-in system for customers collecting online orders in store.

House brand sales climbed 4.6% over the quarter, and rose 10.2% in the year to date. The retailer introduced new menswear brand Army & Navy during the quarter. House brand margins jumped 460 basis points to 58.5% during the quarter.

The retailer’s Oxford Street flagship, which was revamped last year, was a star performer with sales up 5.8% for the quarter and 9.3% over the year.

House of Fraser’s gross margin rose 180 basis points to 36.8% year on year in the third quarter.
