Singer and former Take That star Robbie Williams will turn on London’s Oxford Street Christmas lights on November 5.

The New West End Company, which represents retailers in the district, revealed pop star Leona Lewis and boy band Lawson will perform on the night alongside Williams, who will perform a single from his new album, released the same day the day.

Williams said: “Oxford Street is a fantastic place to do Christmas shopping and it’s great to be part of the celebrations. I can’t believe I am turning on the lights.”

House of Fraser will host the event, which will be ticketed for the first time with a 3,500 capacity viewing circle.

House of Fraser executive director, group merchandising and planning, Nigel Oddy said:“As one of London’s most popular events in the run-up to Christmas, this is guaranteed to be a fantastic occasion and we are extremely proud to have it taking place outside our store.”

This year the lights are being sponsored by Marmite and have a ‘love it or hate it’ theme. The display is also interactive, enabling shoppers to send in pictures from their phones that will be displayed in the lights.

New West End Company communications director Jace Tyrrell said: “The Oxford Street lights truly are a spectacular sight, and this year is no exception. I am sure the impressive display will form the perfect backdrop for all those descending on the West End to start their Christmas shopping.”
