Hema not to raise prices amid Brexit

Dutch retail giant Hema will not raise prices and go ahead with its UK roll-out amid concerns surrounding the British high street, The Telegraph reported.

The retail chain referred as “posh Poundland” opened its seventh shop in Britain on Monday and is planning to open around 15 to 20 shops over next two years.

Hema chief executive Tjeerd Jegen said they are focusing on the business within the M25.

Mr Jergen said: "Consumers’ consumption habits are changing as people are looking to get more for less and our philosophy has always been about making life easier for those on-the-go by providing affordable quality under one roof.

“Now is an opportune time for us to be expanding further into the UK market.”

“We will be absorbing the costs because we know that low prices are important to our shoppers.”
