Victorian Plumbing hails ‘most profitable year to date’

The online bathroom retailer posted record-breaking sales of £151m during the year to September 2019, up 28% compared with the previous year.

Profits soared 188.6% to £10.1m, albeit from a lower base of £3.5m in 2018.

The results have positioned Victorian Plumbing as the largest bathroom retailer in the UK as the specialist outperformed expectations after predicting sales of £145m for the year.

Its growth in sales has been attributed to focusing on the quality of its products, improving service through staff investment and new technologies.

The bathroom retailer is expecting sales of £200m in 2020 and growth of 32.4%.

Managing director Mark Radcliffe said: “I’m really pleased to stop and assess what we have achieved, from humble beginnings in a garden shed to the largest UK bathroom retailer. It’s a real testament to the team’s efforts and relentless pursuit of perfection.

“It’s been a year when competitors have pointed the finger at a variety of factors such as the housing market, Brexit and consumer confidence, but the fact that we’ve succeeded where they haven’t shown that it’s our staff and people that make the difference
