The retailer’s advert begins with one sister giving the other a present from Boots, which kicks off a montage of moments through the years when they have been together and used beauty products, such as on one sister’s wedding day or while chatting in the bath and painting their nails.

The 60-second advert is set to a re-recorded version of Yazoo’s 1982 hit Only You and will first air during the X Factor on Saturday November 11.

The advert and accompanying marketing campaign were produced by creative agency Ogilvy.

Boots will use the hashtag #ShowThemYouKnowThem to promote the campaign and its festive offers.

Director of strategy and communication Helen Jeremiah said: “We want to help people recognise, strengthen and celebrate their closest relationships through the sharing of great gifts – chosen with thought, shared with love, and received with unbridled delight.

“Like the sisters in our film, many of our customers have grown up with Boots and have been sharing our gifts with their family and friends throughout their lives.”
