Body Shop stablemate Aesop has opened its 200th store and largest shop in Europe to date, a stone’s throw away from London’s affluent Sloane Square.

The upmarket Australian retailer’s latest store is a 1,163 sq ft space located in London’s Duke of York Square, which is home to a host of retailers including Zara, Cos and Liz Earle.

Aesop, which was acquired by The Body Shop’s new owners Natura Group in 2013, designed its latest store in collaboration with Oslo-based architecture firm Snøhetta.

The store is the skincare brand’s twelfth standalone shop in the UK and boasts a dramatic central column with arches that spread across the store.

All of the retailer’s stores feature a sink where shoppers can test products and undergo skincare consultations with trained staff members.

This experiential element also serves as a dramatic design feature, with the rounded sink is made of reflective steel which encases the central column.

Aesop plans to open a new store in Bath in 2018 and is also eyeing bricks-and-mortar expansion in Manchester and Brighton.
