H&M has signed up for new store at Kings Mall shopping centre in Hammersmith, as the development undergoes a full refurbishment.

Despite the Swedish fashion giant introducing tough demands on UK landlords, such as reducing the amount of rent it pays if 15% of a shopping centre falls vacant, H&M is understood have signed a standard contract with Kings Mall.

H&M has taken a 30,000 sq ft store at the entrance to Kings Mall and will take possession once refurbishment work on the shopping centre completes in summer 2013.

Owner MP Kings Retail, which acquired the centre in May last year, has now received consent to refurbish the entire 300,000 sq ft retail centre.

MP Kings Retail was advised by GCW and Cushman & Wakefield.

GCW associate director Chris Baker claims that the H&M letting is the first step in a strategy to attract more high street brands to Hammersmith.
