WHSmith has bought gadget and gift etailer the Gadget Shop from toy specialist The Entertainer.
The deal went through last week, when suppliers to The Entertainer were told that the toys retailer wanted to focus on its core toys business.
The Entertainer bought the Gadget Shop brand after it collapsed into administration in 2005. It was then launched as on online only operation, run separately from The Entertainer’s website.
It is not known what plans WHSmith has for the Gadget Shop .

Card Factory reported an increase in profits and sales driven by “value and quality proposition and the strength of our store estate”.
