Staples is considering around 30 store closures as part of a property review.

The US office supplies retailer is looking to cut costs by downsizing its estates, The Times reports.

Staples, which entered the UK in 1993, is understood to have met with its property agents across Europe to review its store numbers.

Just under a fifth of its 137-store UK estate could reportedly be closed following the review.

The retailer, which is led by UK managing director Amee Chande, employs 1,700 staff.
