Pets at Home has reported a strong rise in festive sales, driven by a record day of trading in the run-up to Christmas and a surge in demand for dog-grooming services.
The pet care specialist reported a 7.9% rise in group revenue £255.9m in the 12 weeks to January 3, boosted by a 7.2% increase in like-for-likes.
Sales across the business’ retail division rose 7.2%, while its veterinary division posted a 14.4% uplift in sales.
Pets at Home saw its biggest-ever trading day on December 23 across both stores and online, as well as grooming a record 6,023 dogs in a single day on Christmas Eve.
