Valentino’s collection with high-street retailer Gap will launch in its London flagship store this Saturday.

The seven piece collection, designed by Valentino creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli, coincides with the US retailer opening its first Italian stores in Milan and Rome.

Gap’s flagship on Oxford Street will be the first store in the UK to sell the range. The collection is expected to wow shoppers when it launches, as Lanvin’s collection for H&M did when it launched this week.

Valentino for Gap will apply the fashion houses vision of modern, unconventional femininity to Gap’s classic sportswear range.

Key pieces include a Gap classic, the utilitarian khaki green cotton parka, which is reinvented in three styles; as a jacket with frill detail around the neck, a multi-frilled long length version and a multi-frilled cropped jacket. Frills and bows are prevalent across the collection.

Gap Inc Europe president Stephen Sunnucks said: “As we open our first Gap stores in Milan and Rome, we’re thrilled to be welcomed by the house of Valentino, with its unique position in Italy’s fashion heritage and to work with Maria Grazia and Pier Paolo, and their modern, fresh take on women’s style.”
