Two more TJ Hughes stores have been bought out of administration by Lewis’ Home Retail.

Lewis’, operated by supplier The Benross Group, has snapped up the Newcastle and Widnes shops following its acquisition of four stores last week.

The deal with safeguard 134 jobs with all employees transferring to the new operation.

Ernst & Young administrator Tom Jack, who is acting on behalf of TJ Hughes said:“We are delighted to have completed another deal, which protects further jobs across the North and brings the total number of jobs saved to 576.”

Eight of the retailer’s remaining stores are to close down, with sales beginning immediately. Its Salford store, which was severely vandalised and looted in last night’s rights will close immediately as it no longer viable to trade.

The administrator is continuing to seek a sale of the retailer’s remaining business assets as a going concern, whilst trading stock through its remaining stores.
