Ted Baker has snapped up Topshop design boss Anthony Cuthbertson for the role of global creative director.

Cuthbertson will oversee brand, product, store and creative director strategy in his new role and is set to join Ted Baker later this year.

He will join the fashion retailer after over two years as global design director at Topshop, a role he has held since 2017.

During his time at Topshop, Cuthbertson oversaw all design and product as well as designer collaborations and boutique collections. He has also held design roles at brands including Robert Cavalli, Sass & Bide and Jigsaw.

Ted Baker chief executive Rachel Osborne said: “We look forward to welcoming Anthony, whose experience at a number of high-profile brands has given him an excellent understanding of what it takes to amplify a brand and make it more relevant.

“His experience will be particularly valuable as Ted Baker sets out to expand its product and its relevance, a crucial part of its strategy to return Ted Baker to profitable growth.”

Current interim creative director Michael Bastian will continue to act in his current role until Cuthbertson’s arrival.

Ted Baker has also transitioned interim chief financial officer David Wolffe to a permanent appointment with immediate effect.
