Rent the Runway has partnered with W Hotels to allow shoppers to pay a flat fee to rent a selection of outfits upon arrival rather than bringing luggage.

The clothing rental service has partnered with the hotel chain to launch a new service called Closet Concierge in four of its locations across Miami, California, Colorado and Washington DC.

The partnership will allow visitors to select W Hotels to choose four outfits to rent from Rent The Runway for $69 upon booking their hotel room, which will be delivered to their hotel room upon their arrival.

The collections on offer will be personalised for each hotel location based on the area’s climate and trending colours and silhouettes.

Chief executive and co-founder Jennifer Hyman said: “Traveling without luggage has always been my dream. Travellers can simply show up and have their dream closet waiting for them in their hotel room.”

This is the latest in a series of partnerships by the clothing rental platform, including with US department store Nordstrom, homewares brand West Elm and beleaguered co-working space WeWork.

Rent the Runway hit a $1bn valuation this year but was hit with major fulfilment issues which led to the business temporarily halting operations and new subscribers joining the service.
