Menswear retailer Pretty Green, launched by Liam Gallagher in 2009, has reported strong online and international sales over Christmas.

The high-end retailer, which operates 30 stores and concessions across the UK and Japan, saw international sales leap 24% for the six weeks to December 31 compared to 12% over the same period last year.

Ecommerce sales including VAT advanced 27% over the festive season, which the company said reflected the “continued strength of the group’s online proposition, compared to 41% over the Christmas period in 2014.

Total group sales including VAT rose 16.5% over the six weeks compared to 39% in 2014, while like-for-likes grew 15% against 33% over the same period last year.

Cumulative net sales for the three months to December 31 were up 14%, or 12% on a like-for-like basis. The same period last year saw a rise of 34%, or 27% like-for-like.

Richard Ralph, chief executive of Pretty Green, said its performance reflected investment in developing awareness of the brand both in the UK and internationally.

“Growth was recorded across all our channels to market, but we saw a particularly strong performance from ecommerce through both our website and our pure-play wholesale customers.”

He said he remained “confident” Pretty Green will continue to deliver growth in 2016 after positive feedback for its autumn/winter 2016 collection at its recent London Collections: Men show.
