Next has recorded a drop in its overall third-quarter sales despite full-price and online revenue both rising.

The fashion retailer posted an 8% fall in its full-price retail sales year-on-year in the quarter to October 27, with sales down 6.3% in the year to date.

The retailer’s online sales increased 12.7% during the period while its full-price sales of branded products increased 1.3%.

Online sales in the year to date increased 14.8% while full price product sales rose 3.1%.

Next’s full-year profit and sales expectations were unchanged as result of its third-quarter revenue decline, with preliminary full-price sales anticipated to be up 3% and pre-tax profit expected to be broadly flat at £727m.

The fashion retailer recorded a 3.8% increase in total revenue in its interim results in September to £1.98bn while its pre-tax profit hit £311.1m.
