Donatella Versace opened her collaboration with H&M yesterday to near-hysteria as hundreds queued at the fast fashion chain to make sure they grabbed one of her creations.

The Italian label’s creative director greeted shoppers at H&M’s Regent Street store yesterday.

The womenswear collection features studded leather and colourful prints whereas the men’s collection focussed on sharp tailoring. Versace has also designed a pre-spring 12 collection which will be sold exclusively online from January 19.

The retailer’s website crashed for a short period yesterday, unable to cope with the huge demand for the collection.
