Fashion retailer Fat Face has made its debut in Germany using etailer Zalando’s platform and intends to enter more European markets the same way.

The initiative is part of Next-owned Fat Face’s strategy of expanding its international presence, as initial trading in Germany has been “positive”. Strong sales are anticipated as autumn nears, creating demand for transitional clothing.

Fat Face is offering German customers its men’s and womenswear ranges, as well as premium women’s collection Copper & Black. Accessories and footwear will be added over the next few months.

Fat Face head of partners Alexandra Dalwood said: “Joining the Next family has given us the platform to drive growth and expand into new international markets.

“Our launch on Zalando marks an important step in building our global brand awareness, and we’re really pleased to be able to bring Fat Face to a new audience on this platform in Germany.

“Early interest has been very encouraging, and we’re excited to see how our high-quality clothing resonates with Zalando’s German customers.”

In the first half of the year, full-price sales at Fat Face rose 6.6%. Sales through Next Label advanced 86% and digital now accounts for 36% of total revenue.
