Former Primark chief executive Paul Marchant has returned to retail with an advisory role for George at Asda.
Marchant has been consulting at the supermarket fashion brand since May on the long-term strategy for the business.
An Asda spokesperson told Retail Week: “Paul is working with the George team to provide consultative support as we set out our strategy to grow the George business.”
It marks Machant’s first role in retail since he stepped down from high street giant Primark last March following an investigation into an allegation by a woman about “his behaviour towards her in a social environment”.
The news comes a week after it was revealed that New Look boss Helen Connolly would shortly join George at Asda as its new chief executive.
Connolly spent more than 15 years at George across two spells earlier in her career. She was previously director of buying for womenswear and lingerie at the brand.
Connolly succeeds Liz Evans, Asda’s former chief commercial officer, non-food and managing director of George.
